A mouse in the house

I was cleaning the kitchen when to my horror I found some mice droppings. I really wanted to scream but I didn't. Instead I called the office at our apartment complex and they sent someone down. They really were mice droppings and she really left some glue traps all over the kitchen. I was about to make these delicious brownies

but I abandoned that ship immediately. I don't think I want to cook anything until the mouse (or mice?!?) is gone.  The only good thing is that the lady who brought the traps said that if we catch one I can call the emergency line, hide in the bedroom, and wait for her to come. Soooo thankful we are renting right now! (In case you know where we live it is an awesome place. We have seriously only ever seen ONE bug.)

You can bet I won't be using this (which arrived today) or putting Seth anywhere near the floor for a few days.

Dear mouse, please leave soon! You are not welcome here!

2 months

Seth is so much fun! He regularly smiles and "talks" now and we can't get enough. All but the first pic were taken right after we got home from his 2 month Dr.'s appointment which included immunizations.

Ready for bed one night

half smile

big grin!

talking

loves his hands--as you can see he does an excellent letter "t" in ASL;)
full body shot including neon bandaid and chubby leg rolls

this is when he realized that his legs were sore from the immunizations. he cried pretty much the rest of the day until we gave him a bath
I love the lists of milestones moms post on their blogs. It looks like a résumé to me. So here's Seth's 2 month baby résumé:

  • 12 lbs 5.5 oz, 22.2 inches
  • eats every 2-3 hours
  • loves to suck his hands and sometimes gets lucky enough to get just his thumb
  • wakes up only once (usually) a night
  • has an irregular daytime schedule but sleeps well through noise (yay!)
  • likes baths and diaper changes
  • has diapers that require changing his clothes FAR too often (once or more a day is not uncommon)
  • wears size 1 diapers (changing to size 2 very soon)
  • wears 0-3 month clothes, but not for long
  • smiles, laughs, and coos right after sleeping, being fed, changed, or bathed
  • smiles at some pictures in his books
  • likes listening to mommy sing and read
  • lifts his head to a 45 degree angle occasionally during tummy time
  • follows mom and dad with his eyes when they walk around
  • doesn't want to move to his own room (okay maybe that's mom)

Christmas Firsts

Now that we are home from Utah and Stephen's 5 day flu is gone I can finally post some stuff!

Christmas break was fantastic for all three of us! Stephen enjoyed the extended amount of time off of work, I enjoyed having extra hands to take care of Seth, and Seth is happy no matter what. Since Seth is the new, interesting one around here I thought I'd show you his first Christmas experiences which included, as always in the life of a baby, a lot of firsts.

First time meeting Santa.
[Insert your own funny caption]

First thing to be entertained and captivated by: the Christmas tree lights. Seriously, he LOVED to stare at them.

First airplane rides.
To Utah: Slept like a rock. To Maryland: Happily stayed awake and had his biggest blowout ever... while the drink cart was blocking the way to the bathroom.

First Christmas Eve nativity reenactment.

First trip to BYU! We went to see my sister's painting which was hanging in the HFAC and for which she won an award. Way to go, K!

First time opening presents. During present opening he provided half-time entertainment with a very exciting diaper change and then slept during the rest of the excitement.

First time playing Wii and watching TV (don't worry, we are not making a habit of plopping him in front of the TV- he was really sleeping)

First time meeting his only cousin who is the cutest kid around and only a year older than him. They are bound to be:

First time hanging out with some of mom's best high school friends

First time playing silly New Year's Eve games (you can see his little head on Stephen's shoulder).

First of many "real" smiles

First (and only) Baby Blessing, with all of these studly relatives standing in the blessing circle

By the time we got home I think he was chubbier and tired-er. It was a great first Christmas!
