Seven for Sunday

In 3 more weeks I tell myself I'll have more time to blog because in 3 more weeks school is out! When school is out I can focus 100% on my favorite things: Stephen, Seth, family, and church. Luckily I'm doing an okay job on focusing on these things which is why I haven't had time to blog.

I am so far behind on all of the happy times we've had in the last month including: Stephen's STELLAR accomplishment of graduating from the George Washington University with a Masters of Public Administration, a fantastic visit from Stephen's family, an update on our SIX MONTH OLD, and the coolest bday present ever.

So until I have time to give those events the blog space they deserve, here are seven highlights from this week:
  1. Stephen's brother, Ben, entered the Missionary Training Center to prepare for his LDS mission to Carlsbad, California. So very proud :)
  2. Seth learned how to say "ma ma ma ma" in church today!
  3. Seth got much better at pivoting in a circle on his tummy.
  4. Juicy pear/vanilla custard gelati and brownie fudge/chocolate custard/oreo blendini at Rita's...Mmmazing!
  5. Played a clarinet and violin duet of Joy to the World with my BFF (it may or may not have sounded a little like an elementary school orchestra, but it was so fun and awesome!)
  6. Took a friend from church visiting teaching for her first time ever. Good experience.
  7. Found a job for Stephen to apply for that's within 4 hours of my parents' house (as opposed to 7, 8, 9, or more hours away).

5 months for Seth

A few weeks ago Seth turned 5 months. Here’s some of what our little buddy has been discovering:

Grabbing his feet and rolling over
Seth 4 months 011Seth 4 months 016

Sleeping on his tummy (until mom or dad turns him over since he doesn't know how to yet)
Seth 4 months 030

His big boy overalls
Seth 2

How to sit up a little better (it’s improved a ton since this picture was taken)
Seth 4 months 056

Plants inside and outside the apartment
Raspberries and the Arboretum 024

The Easter bunny
Trip to Charlottesville 005

And for the grandmas, here’s his stats/development:
  • Weighs around 16 or 17 pounds
  • Wears 3-6 or 6-9 month clothes and size 2 diapers
  • Rolls from back to tummy
  • Says da da da, na na na, and la la la
  • Laughs “real laughs” at least once a day
  • Loves to look at books
  • Flails limbs and lifts up his bottom, trying to scoot
  • Sometimes takes naps longer than 30 or 40 minutes :)
  • Goes to sleep at nighttime like a champ and wakes up once to eat and 1-2 times for pacifier replacement
  • Pulls hair and grabs faces
  • Eats rice and oatmeal cereals everyday
  • Has tried bananas, apples, squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes with squash being the winner (but really he will eat them all)!
  • Breathes in and out real fast and wiggles his whole body when he is excited (seeing a smiling person, seeing himself in the mirror, seeing a fan or light, seeing a toy he wants)
  • No longer sleeps well if mom and dad take him along for a date
  • Loves being outside
We love hanging out with Seth and have definitely turned into the typical parents who sit around and watch their baby during any free time. But that’s what this time of life is for, right? Happy mother’s day to all of our women friends, whether you have your own kids or not. Thanks for your motherly influence on our sweet baby!

Oh and I almost forgot a movie! This is fairly short and one of the cutest this month. It's Seth saying da da.
