May

Saying goodbye to the Religious Education office where Steve worked for 3 years. He will miss the awesome religion teachers he became friends with. They loved him too.

Saying goodbye to Steve's hair. Steve is officially cutting his hair at a #1 on the razor. No more tapering--embrace the Bruce Willis look. Well, almost. He's not a skinhead just yet.

Saying goodbye to Steve's cousin Kendall (featured on the left in the stripes) who went home to California after graduating. He's even opening a sprinkler/irrigation branch of his dad's business. Way to go, Kendall!

Well this was another time saying goodbye to Kendall. Too bad Todd's not leaving too (only kidding).

No more goodbyes. Hello, Jessica, my family's foreign exchange student from Brazil. We took her to BYU and hiked the Y.

Y on the Y.

More Y. We just can't get enough.

My birthday picnic after the hike. Thank you mom and dad for bringing pizza and making my favorite orange jello salad. It was AMAZING!

Acting like cheesy engaged couple or something... my legs were tired from the hike.

Okay, bad timing for a picture, but this is the only proof I have that it was actually my birthday.

Mother's day breakfast in bed (for a non-mother served on a cookie sheet, someday we'll have to buy an official Mother's and Father's day breakfast in bed tray).
My sweet husband fixing our toilet. It was extremely difficult to take this picture due to the tiny nature of our bathroom :)
Those are the best pictures I have from May. Soon (somewhere around June 11th) I will be done with school and we will have lots of exciting summer adventures to blog about!
P.S. I got a job with a school district right outside of Washington, D. C. I'll found out in the next few weeks what specific school I'll be at! Either way I will be paid for a full-time real job and that is the most exciting news ever.

Done! (kind of...)

Ok . . . the current post is being written by the proudest husband in the world?

"Why so proud?" you ask.

"Because my cute wife finished her thesis yesterday!" would be my reply.

Of course, my response would be a little over-enthusiastic . . . there's still a few changes to be made, and then she must defend the thesis in front of a committee of professors.

But still, that doesn't change the fact that my wife just essentially finished her thesis. Her Masters thesis.

Congratulations, cutie!

What we've been driving

This is the car the other insurance company rented for us while our car is being fixed. I've always thought PT Cruisers were ugly, but I've actually had fun driving it. I can't tell if it's because I like the car or because it's a new car and that's just fun. Anyway, we are glad that we're getting our car back tomorrow! Bye PT Cruiser, welcome to our car without the squealing from the crack between the driver's door and the car.

If you're in my program at school and wondering WHY on earth I'm not working on my thesis, I needed a break!

A non-real post

I REALLY want to make a real post (meaning a post with pictures), but we are so too busy!

  • Steve started a new summer job at a satellite dish company doing inventory. He's doing well at it and likes it a lot better than his internship at Kohl's last year.
  • I'm am taking my last 2 classes and madly working to finish my thesis in time to graduate (the day I turn it in will be a MIRACLE).
  • We're both busy with a new calling as ward welfare specialists. Our stake is having a mock disaster and there's a drill for the leaders tonight. It's been a lot of work.
  • We are finally getting our car fixed. After a month and a half of back and forth with the car insurance company, we are taking our car in to be looked at tomorrow. Once they order in the right parts we'll get a rental car and wait for it to be fixed! :)
  • I am possibly getting closer on the job hunt. I have a final interview on Monday with a company who will help me find a job in a school district in Maryland. We really like them because (a) they pay more than the schools because they're a private company, (b) they will reimburse us for relocation and licensing, (c) they will help repay student loans, and (d) they seem to have a good mentoring program, especially for first year SLPs.
  • We've had a lot of fun with family lately: we attended the sealing and wedding festivities of Steve's cousin, we visited my family for Mother's Day and met the foreign exchange student from Brazil who is staying with them, and Steve's cousin/roommate/best friend Kendall came to visit.
  • It is actually getting warmer outside and we love it!
